Summer 2012 In Pics

I have been way bad at blogging.

I thought having an iPad would make it easier to blog, but it just made it easier for me to catch up on Grey's Anatomy.
:)

So here I am sharing my whole summer experience with y'all in pictures. (Glad I have a decent camera on my phone.)

I started my summer sales experience postponing my trip out to Texas because of... wait for it... rhabdomyolosis.  In short, I was out of shape and worked out WAY too hard one day causing extreme muscle damage in my legs. While my body was trying to filter all that dead muscle tissue my kidneys were getting all jammed up with those big molecules which could have led to kidney failure. So I spent three days in the hospital hooked up to an IV just trying to flush all that dead muscle tissue out of my body. It was kinda crazy. The worst part about it was the huge amount of atrophy that I experienced in my legs. (So much for working them out, haha.) Walking all day doing sales was a great way to start building them back... now I just gotta keep on it.
The drive to Texas looked a lot like this. Pretty... but boring.
This was my apartment complex in Houston. This is the view out of my window. My office spent most Sunday afternoon/evenings playing sand volleyball. I had a lot of fun doing that. :)
I ran into a lot of this knocking on doors. I guess that's the part that I didn't prepare for, but obviously I see why some people are like that. Now that I've sold door to door, I'll be WAY nicer to people that knock on mine.
Be nice to door to door sales people. Their job is hard.
Especially when the weather is CRAZY like Texas summers are. Pouring rain one minute, super hot the next. And lots of humidity. Bleh!!
I spent some Sundays (our only regular day off) down at the beach in Galveston.
And sometimes we would go to dinner. Side note: I love Hard Rock Cafe nachos. :)
And the saying is true: everything IS bigger in Texas. These are some grapes the size of apricots.

The largest and most colorful grasshopper I've EVER seen.
I made some good friends...
And some cute friends...
And some crazy friends.
I took a break from selling to go visit my grandparents in California. I almost ended up in Oregon on accident because they put me on the wrong plane. That was a crazy experience. Kinda wish I hadn't caught on. It would have been a funny story.
I had a GREAT time talking to my Grandma Goettsche about what it was like to raise seven active and crazy boys and one girl. All of her sons played sports and were good at them. People would recognize her name on her checks at the grocery store and ask "Are you so-and-so's Mom?!" She says she felt kinda famous. You can also imagine, though, the amount of trouble those boys could get into. She told me that more than once she and my grandpa had to drag the whole family down to the courthouse to clear up some complaints/fights. "You don't mess with the Goettsche boys," she said, "cuz they have brothers and they stick up for each other... if you know what I mean."
I loved hearing her talk about my dad. I can't believe how much Jon looks like him.
When I got back to Texas, the office went to an Astros game and then half of us moved to San Antonio... Oh, how I loved San Antonio!!!
We were living in a hotel in San Antonio so I spent a lot of my mornings doing this. :)
And this...
And this. :)
So cute, right?!
Our hotel was next door to Six Flags so a friend and I ditched work one day to go check it out. That was a super fun day!!
The fireworks every night at Six Flags was probably one of my favorite things about living there. Because we lived so close I got to see them all the time.
LOVE IT!!
This is Dallas, the only other girl that was in my office. We roomed together and got to know each other pretty well. We took this pic on our last night together. I'm glad that I had a dancing buddy for a little while this summer.
I miss her.
So the question is...
WAS IT WORTH IT??
Absolutely!!! I had so much fun. I made more than I would have made if I had stayed home (which was the goal) and had more fun than I thought I would. Was it hard?? Heck yeah... but I had such a good time. I'd definitely do it again. :)
The drive home wasn't as pretty. Oklahoma and Kansas are kinda bland... no offense.
I did get to stop in Austin, though, on my way home and spend a few days with my cousin, Rachel. I had such a great time visiting with her. I can't wait to get back down there to visit.
All in all, Life is good. Texas was a lot of fun. I met a lot of fun people and I'm really excited for the direction I'm headed in. I moved back to Logan. I'm gonna be starting school.
Life is good.
until next time, xoxo
